Have you ever asked 'why is my fish tank cloudy?' First, cloudy aquarium water during cycling is normal, so a tank less than two months old only needs time. Cloudy aquarium water in an established tank often arises from excess particulate not getting removed by the filtration. Finer filter pads may help, but a water clarifier will also clear up white cloudy aquarium water. A fish tank clarifier causes the particulate to clump so that it can be filtered out.

Keep in mind that a bacterial bloom aquarium problem will also cause white cloudy aquarium water. Bacterial blooms are caused by excess nutrients, a sign of over dosing additives or insufficient maintenance. Clear up a bacterial bloom by increasing maintenance and decreasing feeding.
