Dual Gyre Pump WiFi Controller:

Powered by CoralVue’s HYDROS platform and Backwards Compatible with Gyre 1K & 3K

The previous generation of IceCap Gyre pumps, the 1K, and the 3K, had external controllers with buttons and a dial to fiddle with to fine-tune flow. The 2K and 4K does away with all that. All of the control is now done wirelessly on a free mobile app for your Android or iOS (Apple) device. There are a ton of other benefits to the new controller that we’re excited to share with you, including:

  • Control 2 IceCap Gyre Pumps with 1 Power Supply
You can control AND power up to 2 pumps from a single Dual Gyre Pump WiFi Controller. A single power brick means less clutter around your tank!
  • Compatible with All IceCap Gyre Models: 1K / 2K / 3K / 4K
If you already own an IceCap 1K or 3K pump, you can upgrade it to be WiFi controlled! Just plug it into the Dual Gyre Pump WiFi Controller and voila! You’re now controlling your old pump using the latest tank tech!
  • Mix-and-Match Different IceCap Gyre Pumps Together
You can use whatever combination of two IceCapGyre pumps that you like. A 2K and 4K, a 1K and 2K, a 3K, and 4K, it’s up to you!
  • Easily Connect to a Third-Party Aquarium Controller
The Dual Gyre Pump WiFi Controller has 0-10V input so you can connect and control your IceCap Gyre pumps from a third-party aquarium controller, like the CoralVue HYDROS Control 4, Neptune Systems Apex, GHL ProfiLux, or the Reef Angel.
  • Set Flow Patterns, Create Schedules, and Trigger Modes
CoralVue’s HYDROS platform powers the Dual Gyre Pump WiFi Controller, so you’ll have access to multiple flow patterns that are programmable by time along with handy modes you can trigger like Feed Mode, Night Mode, or Water Change Mode.
  • 4 LED Light Indicators To Visually Communicate Pump Status
There are four colored LED lights on the Dual Gyre Pump WiFi Controller that give you an at-a-glance look at what’s going on with your pumps. The indicators are Status, Mode, Pump 1, and Pump 2. Get clued into connectivity or performance issues by only looking at the controller.
HYDROS WaveEngine Direct Drive Compatible

You can connect your IceCap 2K Gyre Pump to CoralVue’s universal pump controller, the HYDROS WaveEngine, using a simple Direct Drive adapter. The WaveEngine can control, monitor, and even supply power to your pump. You can connect and power up to four flow pumps in this fashion, which eliminates the need for their external controllers, cables, and power bricks.

The real kicker about the WaveEngine, of course, is its ability to allow pumps from different brands to work together seamlessly using a single integrated flow management system. If you’ve ever wanted to use your IceCap Gyres with Maxspect Gyres, EcoTech Marine VorTechs, Reef Octopus Octo Pulses, or Tunze Turbelles (among others), now you can!

The Gyre 2K Uses Revolutionary Crossflow Technology

Wavemakers excel in making waves, while waves are spectacular to watch in motion, they are moving the majority of the water vertically up and down, with relatively low horizontal movement, especially near the bottom of the aquarium.

On the other hand, gyre generators excel in moving the sheer flow of water from one side of the aquarium to the other. The flow of water is so strong that it would bounce back from the opposite side to achieve full circulation within an aquarium, i.e., generating "gyre flows."

Why have Gyre pumps taken the aquarium world by storm? There are three main reasons:
  1. They leave virtually no dead spots in your aquarium.
  2. The flow is evenly distributed throughout your entire aquarium.
  3. Water bounces back off the other side of your tank, creating a full circulation to complete the Gyre pattern.

These three key points run in stark contrast to the performance of the status quo propeller-type pumps that once ruled our hobby. Sure, they can move water. But they don’t do it as efficiently and intelligently as the Gyre! For example:

Disadvantages of Standard Propeller Nozzle Pumps:

A) Relatively weak water movement with dead spots left :in their wake.
B) There is a powerful flow in the center but not elsewhere, which makes coral placement difficult.
C) The water movement is weak at the other end of the aquarium and is not designed for recirculation.

Why is a Gyre Generator Superior to a Wavemaker?

Wavemakers excel in making waves. While waves are spectacular to watch in motion, they are moving the majority of the water vertically up and down, with relatively low horizontal movement—especially near the bottom of the aquarium.

On the other hand, the Gyre excels in generating massive movements of water from one side of the aquarium to the other. The sheer volume of water is so substantial that it bounces off the opposite side of the aquarium to achieve full circulation within the tank. Or, as we call it, generating a “gyre flow.”

Frustrated with the software parr

Pros: Hardware

Cons: Software

Hardware wise, the product is acceptable. However when it comes to Operating the product via mobile app, now that was a disaster. Product would not connect to mobile app, after 6 days with messing with the gyre I gave and miraculously it it was connected on it's own. Several other customers in the aquarium store stated they had the same issues when installing. I recommend that the software engineer revisit the programming process. Other than that, it has potential after fully integrated and install and would recommend it.

Icecap 2k

Pros: The 2k allows for removal of one side for reduced power and flow, app further allows for settings

Cons: Very powerful at the initial start

The IceCap 2k is a great product, it adds great flow and I use the Sine Wave setting in my 40 gallon marine tank. Just keep in mind that when you install it and plug it in the product will start immediately at a constant flow at the top end of it's power, which can be too strong.

I used my RO water bucket to have the pump in while I configured the app and make adjustments before installing it in my tank.

nice little gyre

Pros: good flow, improved interface

Cons: pricey

I like the icecap gyres and especially with the new controller. The old controllers were tedious to program, especially if you were adding several events to a schedule. The new one is much better. The 2k pumps also allow you to take one side off to fit in tight spaces. I bought 2 and one died after 2 weeks. I contacted coralvue and they sent a replacement. coral vues customer service is very prompt and took care of my problem

Great Power-head, Indescribably horrible Software

Pros: 5 star pump, works amazing, great flow.

Cons: 1 star software that utterly destroys the brilliance of this powerhead.

I love this power-head, to me its amazing, but that software....
Nothing would make me happier than to give it 5 stars, but I can't.

I have set up the app on my phone(android), it never works correctly. I dread having to try to make changes to my flow, as I have to go through hell just to get the phone to connect to the receiver. It forced me to set up in WiFi, then demands you use Bluetooth, only Bluetooth doesn't work and there is no option to switch to Bluetooth once you have set up in WiFi, so then I have to go through a long process of rebooting my phone and PRAYING it starts up using WiFi when I try to connect. Once you do get it to connect, the software is completely non friendly. Its supposed to be easy but none of the changes i make go into effect the way the app shows.

I have watched all the videos, i have played for hours on the App, and i still think it might be the worst app i have ever seen.

Absolutely HATE this app, its horrendous.
Only reason i would recommend this is because of the brilliance of the power-head.

Best wave maker or gyre on the market

Pros: Small pump, easily hidden, great flow, instructional videos, flow variety, user friendly app

Cons: None

This gyre is an excellent pump, easily installed, and after following the instructional videos I was able to create a flow that has really changed my reef. Gone are the dead spots from my wave makers and I have seen my sps corals really take off under the new flow.

My only regret is not switching sooner.

Loving it so far

Pros: Wifi controllability

Cons: No yet

I've had this pump and controller for over a week now and so far love all all the options with the wifi controller. The app works great, there's a ton of informational videos on you tube from the company. I love that you can run two pumps off of this one controller and also run older model pumps as well
